Such is the life of Joe...
I HATE LOSTAlmost time for the grand opening of Nordstrom in the Spectrum! Yahoo!!! Friday is the day! There's all these other stores opening up there. Metropark is one of them. Pretty cool store. Dude, why's it so freaking HOT?!?! It's just crazy! Like crazy hot. And I was just gonna go off on how much I love Fall and it's cool weather. Booool.
So here's my weekly LOST spoiler (as usual highlight the following if you wanna read stuff I saw on the episode): So did anyone see the "brand" on that shark that Michael shot? On it's belly was the same "brand" that was on all the foodstuff in the hatch. CRAZY! So are they in a freaking "Truman Show" type deal? Does this give more evidence of the survivors being in an experiment done by some gigantic company? So how did Walt's mom die? She just suddenly got sick and died, right? Was she infected by some disease some company bio-engineered and that the survivors are being tested on? That may be one theory. So Desmond asks Locke "Are you him?"...I'm thinking that Desmond was waiting for his replacement or something. Also Desmond said something about the world still existing or something and if anyone of the survivors got sick. Well, could it be that there was a nuclear attack/meltdown and the EMP (electromagnetic pulse) is what made the plane crash. Is everyone else in the world dead? Is Desmond afraid of the outside world because he's fearing radiation poisoning? Is that why he asked if any of the survivors are sick. Just some questions that this stupid show brings up. Plus the freaking others...why is Michelle Rodriguez in "jail"? Guess we'll have to wait until next week...and I guess I'll have to go frame by frame to find out what those stickers/brand name is on all the food supply in the hatch AND on the shark.
Was it the season premiere of Veronica Mars too? I forget because i was all up on LOST...that's why I LOVE the internet. Veronica Mars is just a download away.
Anyone going to Sweden any time soon? Or anyone know any friends or something in Sweden? Just let me know. I want something from there.
So how was Costa Rica? Sfun? Yeah, of course it was...you wanna go back don't ya? PURA VIDA!!! Have fun in India now...Miss World Traveler.
Ok, that's it...I'll talk to you guys later. Such is the life of Joe...
Family TiesGood relaxing weekend doing pratically nothing. Just basically got the apartment more put together, set up the receiver in my room, carried Joesan's heavy ass TV into the house and set that up, and that's pretty much it. Nothing exciting, but that's what I wanted. I did go to Buena Park to go to my Tita's house on Saturday becuase she was having the family over since my Lola Tina is over from the PI. She's the last of the Avancena's (my grandmother on my mom's side's maiden name) and it was good to see her and everything. I dunno why everyone made such a big deal about it. My Tito David (who lives in Oregon) called me when I was there to tell me he was proud and happy that I was there. And when Lola Tina arrived and I was reintroduced to her (because it's been at least 5 years since I last seen her) my Tita's were tearing up.
I think it's just because they're happy to see me take time and spend time with the family and see Lola Tina. Even though I can't understand Lola Tina (because she only speaks Ilongo) it was nice just spending time with her. One of the first things she said was that I looked like Mom (even though I've always and still think I look more like my Dad (it's the ears)). And that's when I got it. They were just happy to see me interact with Lola Tina becuase it was like Mom was interacting and spending time.
I love my family, I really do. And I love my position in the family...I'm not too old where I can't hang out with my little cousins (and by little I'm talking about early 20's) and not too young where I can't hang out and talk with my Tita's. That's pretty much what I did. Just spent time sitting and mostly listening and trying to understand Ilongo as my Tita's were talking...and the ther half spent just kicking it and joking around with my cousins while watching TV.
It was a good weekend spending time with the family. I really need to spend more time with them. Actually spent time with some of my 2nd cousins that I really haven't hung out too much with, but it was really cool. Watched "Crash" which is an awesome movie.
Well, that is all. What to look forward to this week? Well, Grand Opening of Nordstrom at the Irvine Spectrum, plus some other stores there. Haven't shopped in a while....Such is the life of Joe...
BIG LOST SPOILER!DO NOT READ if you haven't watched or want to find out what I just discovered. Highlight the following if you do: So I was rewatching the season premiere of LOST and in the beginning when the guy we find out later to be Desmond is going through his daily routine, he injects himself with something. I decided to freeze frame and slow-mo to see what he injected himself with...I paused it to see what the bottle said and it said 4 8 15 16 23 42 (more specifically CR 4-81516-23 42)!!!! OH MY GOSH!!! Those are the "unlucky" numbers, Hurley's numbers, the numbers that was written outside of the hatch!!! WHAT THE HECK!!! That just makes me believe a little more that they'll all undergoing an experiment of some sort. Maybe those numbers the experiment number, or the drug lot number of the drug they're experimenting with!? CRAZY, hUH?!?!?! So what does it all mean? Who knows....CRAZY, huH? SOOOOOO CRAZY! Ok, get back to watching LOST frame by frame now. Such is the life of Joe...
Top 5 at 5?So I was listening to KRTH (K-Earth) Oldies at work today. Yeah, you gotta love those Beatles, Creedence, and other songs they play on that station. Anyways, at 5 o'clock they have the "top 5 at 5". WHAT THE HECK!? How can you have a "Top 5" list at an OLDIES station? I mean, they play the same songs every day...how different can the top 5 be? Do people actually request songs and the top requested get on the top 5? Or is the top 5 the same every day? I mean, oldies radio...plays the same 200 or so songs. You'd think that they'd start playing more obscure songs on the albums of some of the people...you know...the songs that weren't hit singles but were on the albums anyways? Yeah, that'd give the station at least a LITTLE variety. LOST did you watch LOST?! Well...(highlight the next part if you wanna read my thoughts on it, but be warned....SPOILERS!!!!) So on the hatch, it said QUARANTINE, right? Now did it say that on the outside of the hatch or the inside of the hatch? Because that makes a big difference. I'm thinking that it said "QUARANTINE" on the inside of the hatch to prevent people from going up out of the hatch and into the island. So basically that probably means the people on the island are some kind of experiment or something. RIGHT!? And that dude, Desmond? or whoever. I betcha he was like a scout or something for whoever to select subjects for the experiment. So it'd be interesting to see if EVERYONE on that island recognizes him. Well, that just my theory...and that's just based on the first episode. You know that it's gonna change with every successive episode though. So whatcha think? You think I have something there? Yeah...probably not.
So I kinda started to work out again. I went to the gym on Wednesday...2 and a half weeks after last working out. Note to self. After not working out for 2 and a half weeks, do not think that you can go back to what you were lifting before. Yeah, sure you can probably do the first exercise all good and do what you did before...but when it comes to the next exercise you'll realize that the first one tired you out. That was me on Wednesday. Freaking couldn't lift crap after doing that first exercise. Damn.
My room's almost all finished. I even moved my AV receiver into my room, since Joes is gonna supply the BIG ASS TV (well, compared to our TV) and AV receiver. The only bad thing is that I can't control all my AV stuff from my receiver. One, the 'video' on my 'video' doesn't work so all I hear is audio when I wanna play PSI (yes, I said Playstaion ONE) and I can't control my TV through my receiver since I don't have a cable box, the cable just goes straight to my TV and not from a cable box --> receiver --> TV. Oh well, I'll get used to it.
Finally, it's Friday!!! You gotta love the weekend. Hopefully, the weekend will be spent sleeping and finishing up my room. Aside from visiting familia on Saturday. Hopefully it'll be a chill weekend. Such is the life of Joe...
All Your Bases, Are Belong To UsNew fall season, you gotta love it. I know I do. New episodes of shows that I love plus new shows trying to entertain me. So far here's what my week of TV will look like: Monday8:00 - Arrested Development FOX (freaking hillarious!!!! "I slept in the car so my snoring wouldn't bother you, and I left a tape of me snoring so you wouldn't know I was gone." HA HA HA!!! Hilarious I say!!!) 8:30 - How I Met Your Mother CBS (just heard good things about it and the first episode was pretty good...we'll see) 9:00 - Las Vegas ABC (Nikki Cox and Vanessa Marcil (mmmmm...Vancessa Marcil) plus it's about Las Vegas!) 10:00 - Laguna Beach MTV (yeah yeah yeah...we know YOU watch it too) Tuesday9:00 - My Name Is Earl NBC (Jason Lee, nuff said....snootchie bootchies) 9:30 - The Office NBC (Steve Carrell, nuff said...) 10:00 - Nip/Tuck FX (Christian is a PIMP!) Wednesday9:00 - LOST ABC (nuff said) 9:00 - Veronica Mars UPN (ohhhhhh why!!!! why did you have to move to LOST's time slot! WHYYYY!!!! guess you'll be my daily download [along w/ LOST and Battlestar Galactica]) Thursday10:00 - ER NBC that's probably it...nothing else on that really gets me..except maybe CSI. Friday10:00 - Battlestar Galactica Sci-Fi (too bad that the season finale is this week so after this week my fridays will be open) SaturdayNothing on TV on Saturdays Sunday8:00 - Simpsons FOX 8:30 - Family Guy FOX So that's my TV schedule. Any shows you think i should be watching? I wish I had HBO so I could watch Entourage but I don't. Boo Hoo.
So that's what I've been doing this week so far...just putting stuff away in my room, which is kinda hard because my old room was probably 50% bigger than the room I have now. Just gives me more incentive to get rid of stuff I don't really need.
So I watched Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and now I'm kinda hooked back on FFVII. I wanna start playing it again! It's kinda sad because I forgot some/most of the story line from the game. I haven't played that game since Sophomore year!!! And I still haven't finished playing FFVIII either. I started playing that last year on and off but stopped when I started class. But yeah...the movie? Ehhhhh...s'alright. Just my $0.02.
Ok, almost the end of the week. I really want to finish cleaning my room up and stuff and just chill. Yeah, that sounds good. Such is the life of Joe....
BLUUUUEEEEEEEEEE TEEAAAMMMMMHAPPY BIRTHDAY SHERWIN AND RIANN!!!!. Actually, happy belated to both of yous. Hope you both had a great birthday. Next time though...gimmie more notice than just 1 day! HA! Ok, I'm not one to gloat or brag but BLUE TEAM kicks ass!!! YAHOO!!! HA HA HA!!!
It was a pretty chill weekend. Friday was spent mostly sleeping and resting because I've been feeling sooo tired and a lil sick. James was busy packing up his stuff and clearing out all the junk that he's accumulated. Saturday then began with me helping out James and Craig load up Craig's truck with all of James' stuff to take back home. James and Craig then made his way back up North and I started to move some stuff into my new room. Then it was off to Pasadena for some Broomball to celebrate Riann's birthday.
So when I got the invite for broomball I thought "oh this will be fun, just running around and messing around on the ice". But when I got there it was like a serious organized game. We each had our team colors: BLUE vs. white. And Joe was decked out in his Foot Locker gear...oh wait, I mean, Referee gear. It was so much fun and I was sooooooooo glad that I was the goalie, because for the 5 minutes I was out there running around chasing that ball, I was sooooo freaking tired.
Good times watching people eat it, Tin Tin checking Cile (who had the videocamera in her hand, Fantone taking down Bev (see Bev, I wasn't the one to hurt you), Leia stopping EVERYTHING that came her way...and even some that didn't, Pat and Tin Tin sliding everywhere on the ice, James just running on the ice like it was asphalt (I think it's because he's Canadian), and many other moments that was surely captured on video.
The blue team was awesome. I had to admit that when I saw the teams, I was intimidated because they got some good guys, Eric, Jeff (who I'm deathly afraid of when he gets into anything b/c I've heard how he gets at his kali/arnis tournaments), and James (who's Canadian so ice is his natural habitat). But when the game started I realized we had the more balanced team. We got the guys doing the scoring up front and the girls doing an awesome job at defense. It was all about Fantone and Leia stopping the ball from even coming near the goal. I think MVP was Leia though...she was all over the ice clearing that ball away from our side. Good job team!!!
Dude, this weekend wasn't the weekend for me in my betting. I lost EVERY bet that I made. I think I lost around $70!!! GREAT!!! I have to admit that the Notre Dame game was AWESOME, but I freaking lost that bet. Stupid Pat's and Stupid Raiders lost me a lot of money too. There's always next week!!!
You know what's funny? You'd think that I'd feel sicker after feeling sick on Saturday and then going to play broomball in the cold. But the next morning after broomball was the first time my throat didn't hurt in a while!!! Amazing! But the weird thing is that when I got back to my apartment I started to get all congested again...I now think that it's because of all the dust that I've kicked up from moving from my old room to my new room.
Well, first day of the new week. 5 more days until the weekend. Also the week to start working out again...I'm feeling really out of shape. Have a great week everyone. Such is the life of Joe...
Let the rain fall down...For all you LAGUNA BEACH fans out there: You can all thank Fantone for emailing that out. You know what would be even better? A "Sweet 16" cast party, I would definitely go there so I could slap that one fet girl. Oh man, that would be great. I really hate that show, but this newest one was soooooo good. The girl wasn't too spoiled/bratty, but she was a bitch, and it was soooo awesome because she kicked off one of her friends from being a "VIP" at her party and that girl just tried so hard to suck up to her at the party. It was awesome.
So James is down here so that he could move all his stuff back either to Tulare or up to ALameda with him. He has a bunch of crap that needs to be thrown away or donated away. It's not just him that has a lot of junk...I'm starting to go through my stuff too, so that I can throw away some crap and there's a lot of stuff that I rarely use and can get rid of. Yes, you can call me a packrat, I'll always tend to save something with either one of two things on my mind: "I can always use this in the future" or "I can sell this on eBay for something" Yeah, you should see my collections: collections of comics, maxim magazines, alcohol, pictures, star wars toys, cigars, cigar labels, etc. And you wonder why I don't get into the shoe collecting faze...I don't wanna buy my first because then I'll be addicted.
So I was watching "Miami Ink" and "Inked" yesterday. Both are shows about these 2 different tattoo shops if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Both are very interesting shows...those tattoo artists are awesome artists. But it was funny because both shows had a person getting the "Lady of Guadalupe" tattooed on them. One of my friends asks me if I had ever considered getting a tattoo. Yes, I have...but I'm so undecisive on what I want that I've never gotten one. PLUS the fact that I bet you IF I do get a tattoo that my obsessive/collective nature turns back on and I'd want more, and more, and more. If I ever did get a tattoo, I think I'd seriously want a half sleeve, not just one tattoo on my shoulder, but a whole half sleeve in color....those are sweet.
Ok, so I've updated twice in the span of 24 Hours. Hopfully that will satisfy my readers. I'll talk to ya'll laters. Such is the life of Joe...
Finally, a postYeah, I know, I know...UPDATE YOUR BLOG JOE!!! I know I've been lagging...it's just that I've been sooooooooo lazy and sooooooooo tired these past couple weeks. I seriously haven't recovered from Chicago yet...I just want to sleep on the weekends but that's not happening...stupid friends inviting me out to do stuff and have good times (said sarcasticaly, of course). So that being said...here's a new blog entry!!! Yippee!!! Only thing is, I really don't have anything to say. So I guess I'll just talk random stuff.
Well, I guess it's a little too late to wish Danielle a good first day (or 2nd or 3rd day for that matter) at her new job at Amgen. So I'll wish you a good 4th day at work! Hope you're having fun up there in that huge campus that Amgen has. I'm sure you're gonna love that job. You're not missing anything here at all. Same old, same old...and yes, I know...but I still gotta work on my resume first. Have a great first week, and when's the housewarming at your apartment?!?!
Serena was down this week for work. DAMMIT! I thought I got rid of that girl after I left SD! HA HA HA! Yeah, but it's always good to see her and some other old friends just kicking back and thinking abou the old days. And yes, I know there's positions at Allergan too, but like I said, I gotta work on my resume first.
I haven't worked out in like 2 weeks and I really feel like I'm getting fat (GETTING fat? yeah, I know I was a little chubs before) and weak. But I've been sooooooooo lazy and tired. Do you think it's because I haven't been working out that I've been tired? Yeah, I really need to get back to working out. Won't happen until next week, actually probably not until the week after next. Damn, I'm a lazy ass. So who's gonna be all sore after a game of broomball? Yeah, just point your finger at me right now.
Been so busy and so freaking tired lately that I haven't had a chance to call some people that I've wanted to talk to. Wondering if one person is still mad at me and also gotta call back someone to let them know they didn't offend me by what they said, they were just getting stuff out in the open and letting their frustrations out. No worries at all.
So yeah, that's it...weekend looks to be busy again. I really wish I could sleep. That'd be the perfect weekend, but I don't see that happening for a while. Such is the life of Joe...
The Sand is Reallly FineWhat am I, 65? I'm still tired....tired from Chicago. I really wanted to rest and sleep this whole weekend, but that didn't happen. Instead I went down to San Diego to celebrate Shawn's birthday. Good times just chilling down there. On Saturday we went to La Jolla Shores...too bad that it was freaking cold there. And here's our reasoning for not going kayaking, "the water's too cold". So what do we do instead? I jump in the water and swim. HA HA HA! While we were out there J.J. and Shawn actually saw a shark in the water!!! Ok, not a huge 20 foot shark...sure it was only maybe 2 feet long, but still...a shark. Afterwards we barbequed and chilled at Rita and Shawn's and then got too lazy to go out to Gaslamp and so we chilled at home instead. Tooday was spent betting on football. Stupid freaking Niners! They weren't supposed to win! That killed 2 of my parlays. Good thing I can always count on the reliable Colts. Won a straight Colts bet and a parlay with the Colts and Lions. AWESOME! So add that to the money I won from the Patriot's game...I'm up $100. Sure, it's not a lot, but at least I'm up. I LOVE FOOTBALL SEASON because GAMBLING IS SO FUN!!! We also went shopping at Las America's outlets which is right there at the freaking border. Pretty crazy how you can see Mexico and that big ass fence from the outlets. Bought myself a new wallet at Coach there...sure, it'll do until I get my Gucci wallet.
Tomorrow is the start of another workday and I'm freaking tired still. Hopefully I can get some rest after work tomorrow. Hope you all have a great work week. I'll talk to you later. Such is the life of Joe...
CHICA---GO!!!HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DEAN!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWN!!!! you're OLD! HA HA HA! Just kidding just kidding. Dude, I've been soooooooo freaking tired and lazy at work to blog about Chicago. I know you guys probably miss me and my ramblings that waste some of your time at work. So here...I'm blogging, finally.
CHICAGO was great. It was just nice being in a different city and actually being in a realy city, with skyscrapers and all!!! Totally different scenery from California...architecture there is amazing. Good times with friends, in a great city, with perfect weather. Sure we were total tourists with all of us taking pictures of basically the same thing, but at least we get to relive the memories with them. Yeah, I actually liked Chicago so much that I thought about maybe moving there....until I realized that it gets down to like 0 degrees in the winter...no thanks. I like it when the weather is cool...NOT freezing cold. Plus we only saw the touristy nice area of Chicago and got to drive by the projects of Chicago which wasn't too glamourous. Thanks to Olivia and Cat for showing us around the city!!! CHICAGO PICTURES. Ya'll should know the password...if you don't, IM, email, call, or ask me for it.
So work's been pretty busy, just because my co-worker left and was replaced with a new guy. New guy is cool, works hard, and really wants to learn...but at times he can be annoying because he keeps on apologizing everytime he does something. When I just tell him something like "you gotta do this before you do that" he'll respond..."I'm Sorry". Or "Good Morning" and he says "I'm sorry".
Football season started yesterday with the Patriots beating the Raiders. YAHOO!!! FOOTBALL SEASON IS BACK! You know what that means? That means, SPORTSBETTING HAS ONCE AGAIN STARTED!!! YAHOO!!! ANd i'm off to a good start...won about $30 on the game yesterday...yeah, I should've bet a little more, but it's the first game of the season.
Watched the game at Fox Sports Grill and also to "surprise" Danielle with a lil get together. Watching the game there was cool except there were a lot of Raiders fans there (booo Raiders, plus I put money on the Pat's) and they had a broadcast going on there too so for most of the game, there was no sound. Tim Brown and Jason Seahorn were some of the analysts there. Cat got her jersey signed by Tim Brown and the rest of the girls got pictures with both of them. Man, I stayed there at Fox Sports Grill from like 5pm until 10ish? Sooooo not good to drive.
It was good times chilling with my friends, drinking up a storm, rooting on the Pat's and watching the girls drool over Jason Seahorn (he's dreamy). Good times also talking with Cat and Danielle and just ish talking about a couple people from work. Sooo much fun...it's funny how universal those people are hated...ok, not hated, but disliked. Yeah, I already miss all that ish talking because Mansi and Danielle have left...so who am I gonna ish talk about work with? Ahhhhhh....there's always Cat. YAHOO!!!
After Fox Sports we decided to go to D&B's to chill, maybe get some food, and sober up. Little did we know that D&B on Thursday nights is like UCI ASIAN night! Dude, the line to get in was crazy...I mean, not crazy crazy, but it's definitely the longest I've seen at D&B's. I never knew! The girls decided to go to Yardhouse instead but I went into D&B's to say Happy Birthday to Dean since he was celebrating there. Good thing I saw Trish in line and cut in with her (THANKS TRISH!). It was good seeing Dean, Ed, Jovan, and all them in D&B's. I didn't stay too long though because I felt really old, and because if I didn't leave then I would've started to drink again and I would've never found my way home.
So Thursday night was a great night. Got to hang out and chill with lots of my friends. Who can ask more than that???? I really wanna just rest this weekend, but I don't think that's gonna happen. BLAH! Hope ya'll have a great weekend. Such is the life of Joe....
I Hope It's Not SporadicallyFirst of all.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOU!!!!. Lou will be celebrating his birthday in the lovely city of CHICAGO!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN! Since it's your birthday, you can call all the shots on our first day in Chicago. Dress up as ninjas and head to the roof of the Sears Tower? SUUUUURE!!! Let's do it! Happy birthday man! Can't wait until we get to Chicago! Yeah, it's 3:30am in the morning and I'm still up. I still haven't finished packing for Chicago yet...but I'm doing that on purpose. I wanna stay up all day until I get on that plane...and then knock out. Why? Because our flight is at 7:30am at LAX. Pretty much gotta be there by 6:00am which means leave Irvine by 5:00am, which means wake up by 4:30am. Considering my normal wake time is 8:30am you can see why I'm a little paranoid about oversleeping.
I used to do this during finals week. Whenever I had an 8 o'clock final, I would stay up the whole night just studying, partly just to study, but mostly because I was paranoid I would oversleep and miss a final. Funny thing is that I've actually missed a final, and that wasn't due to oversleeping, it was due to me thinking the final was at the wrong time...AND for a friend not telling me to double check the time when the time I told him my final was, didn't sound right to him (HI ED!). Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know, I got a better grade in that class because of it (I just retook the final during summer school...super duper easy).
Well, Thursday was the last day for a couple of my favorite people at the job. Mansi, my coworker is moving back up north. GO NINERS!!! Yeah, she sounds really happy and excited moving back home...so I'm really happy for her. Sure, I'm kinda sad because we worked good together. I know I used to annoy her with my random boughts of singing random songs (oompa loompa, doopity do...., my humps my lovely lady lumps, etc.) and just random conversation pieces, but at least those sporadic interactions made my day go so much faster. Good luck Mansi in everything you do.
And of course there's Danielle. Danielle my friend, who turned into my coworker which kinda made it weird for me. Yeah, I have a thing about not having physical contact with coworkers. So all that hugging hello/goodbye that we used to do at UCI stopped when we started to work together. Sure that's the down side, but I"m soooooooo glad that I worked with Danielle. I really didn't know her at UCI, but working with her I can say that we really became good friends. One of the only people that I've had serious conversations with...and I mean serious. Thanks for always being there Danielle and for always listening to me. Don't worry about not saying goodbye to me on Thursday...I don't really like goodbyes...and it's not like I won't see you anytime else. So I'll see ya later, Danielle (I hope it's not sporadically) you like how I threw in that quote from your favorite movie in there? I want a hug the next time I see you.
OK, in 4 hours I'll be in a plane to Chicago to visit Ferris Bueller, Fall Out Boy, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Common, Kanye, DA bears, DA bulls, DA cubs, etc. Hope ya'll have a great Labor Day Weekend. I'll see ya guys on Monday (or sooner if our hotel has internet!!!). Such is the life of Joe...
